Meeting Space: Basic Needs - Food

Subsequent to yesterday’s meeting (8th May 2013) and invitation for proposals to use the meeting space, I am proposing the following:

Meeting Space: Basic Needs – Food
Food is a basic human need. Food is a necessity to survive & thrive on this planet. However, survival is only one aspect of foods function. Sharing food can be a lubricant for conversation, a common leveller bringing people of common interest or diversity together. Food can be ritualistic in a basic sense but also, for some, in a sense diverted for the norm. It enfolds the consumer in the cycles of life and death of the creatures we may or may not consume and the circles of the seasons each reflecting our own life experiences and mortality as human beings.
I propose that we each bring food to share a meal together at a meeting. The act of sharing a basic human need will provide an opportunity to experience and comment on the community creation during the process.
I am mindful that members of the group have differing eating requirements. To enable whole group participation, may I suggest that each person bring food to share that has meaning for them so that others can experience a new aspect of each member?

Proposed Date Tuesday 21st May
